HOW OFTEN SHOULD MY HORSE GET A MASSAGE?

The frequency of the sessions is entirely up to the horse owner! However, I will make a recommendation for follow up at the end of each session. The frequency will depend on several factors such as  the horse's current intensity of work, lameness or injuries. Just like with human massage sessions, initially more frequent sessions may be recommended ( i.e. a repeat session in two weeks) if the horse has several  or significant problem areas. Generally, every 4 to 6 weeks is adequate.

MY HORSE GETS CHIROPRACTIC CARE ALREADY, HOW WILL MASSAGE THERAPY HELP?

Massage therapy can be a great adjunct to chiropractic care. I am happy to coordinate sessions to optimise chiropractic care.  Having a horse massaged about 24 hours before a chiropractic session, can help relax tense muscles and can make the adjustments not only easier for the chiropractor and horse,  but can facilitate in the adjustments lasting longer.

HOW SOON AFTER A MASSAGE CAN MY HORSE WORK?

This will largely depend on the type of work you plan to do and what the massage session revealed. It is possible that after a session a horse may be slightly "sore or tender" in areas that were worked, just as humans can feel a bit sore after a deep tissue massage. They usually benefit from a period of rest/ turnout following a session and certainly I recommend 12- 24 hours before any intense work.
